Let's Try This Again

Ok, so we went to Jersey last weekend to recharge, maybe not exactly to recharge, but we did go to Jersey. Saturday and Sunday morning we took Kaitlyn for a bike ride on the boardwalk and it was so nice (other than my extremely sore bottom from a super uncomfortable seat). There's something refreshing about riding your bike while staring at the ocean...maybe it's the ocean but it felt great, I could have done it all day long if not for the ridiculous humidity. I think those bike rides were the boost I needed to get me back on track.

We came home Sunday night and I had a dream that I was at a marathon with two friends, I have no idea who they were, all I know is we were friends, and we were about to start our race when I panicked and realized that I had totally slacked in my training and wasn't sure how I was going to make it through. The race started and like I had predicted, I couldn't make it through, I was whining, and crying and barely walking along the course cursing at myself and then I woke up. I think that was a sign, someone was telling me to get my ass back in the gym.

I went back yesterday, rode the bike for 30 min and went 11 miles, then got on the treadmill and ran/walked a mile. It was the first time I actually did some jogging and I'm not going to lie, I thought my knee was going to explode out of my leg. The pain actually started right above my knee and went all the way down to my ankle, although it wasn't so much of a pain as it was pressure. Not sure what it was all about, but I'm going to have to figure out how to work through it.

Friday is NEW SHOE DAY! YAY! I've been wearing the same sneakers for at least 4 years now, I know that's no good, I know they have absolutely NO support left in them, they're super uncomfortable, I can tell, so I'm headed over to the new Potomac River Running store to have them check out my feet and get me some good, new shoes, I'm hoping that may help with the knee just a little.

Today is the first day of lunchtime yoga. I'm actually really excited about it!
