The Conversation That Did Me In

I was out with my mom and Kaitlyn on Sunday, we were walking to a festival having a nice conversation when we started talking about my running. She asked me how it was going, I told her and then she asked how my knee was holding up. I told her that surprisingly, it was holding up well, which is the truth. It doesn't really hurt when I run, never hurts afterwards and no, I haven't been wearing a brace, maybe I'm over the hump.

I went for a run yesterday and was about 5 minutes in when the pain was so bad I actually got tears in my eyes. There have been a few instances when, at the beginning of a run it does hurt a bit, but nothing I can't push through and then it's fine, but yesterday the pain started in my knee and went all the way down to my ankle, and it wasn't just pain, it was pressure, like my leg was literally going to explode. So, I stopped and stretched it out, I wasn't going to give up, I got back up and walked for a few minutes until it felt fine again and I then I eased back into a light jog only to feel the pain come back, to the point of tears so I walked the rest of the mile. I finished my mile in a little under 15 minutes feeling upset, frustrated, mad, and sore. Go figure, once I was done, the pain was gone.

I'm hoping it's nothing serious, I'm hoping that I just took to long of a break in between runs (a week) and that's not good. I did a fast 2.5 mile walk on Saturday, but that's not the same as a run, so I'll try again today and see how it goes. I'm hoping it was just the conversation that did me in...this one time.
