I'm back from my 'Me-Cation' and it was wonderful! Unfortunately, I did not get to much working out in while I was gone, unless you count running through Dulles to catch my flight, walking all over LAX, Balboa Island, and driving up and down the Pacific Coast Highway exercise :-) It's ok though, I needed this break, probably more mentally than physically but whatever!
I came back on Sunday evening fully intending to come home, throw on my running shoes and get some good workouts in, but I'm sad to say that it's now Tuesday and I still have yet to get a workout in and it won't happen today either, and I'm actually pretty disappointed about it. Here's why...I came home Sunday to the aftermath of what was apparently a pretty nasty storm. I landed at 7:45 pm and was picked up by my wonderful husband and lovely daughter only to hear that we had no power, and it had been out since 3:00, fantastic, I thought, when the power goes out I turn into the Incredible Hulk, not to mention, when it's out in the dead of summer, there's no AC, and no fans. So, we took our time getting home, went and grabbed a bite to eat hoping it would be on by the time we got back, but no such luck. We spent Sunday night on the couches (all of us, dog included) and woke up in pools of sweat on Monday morning (still with no power). We all went our separate ways yesterday hoping that the power would be back on when we got home, but, NOPE, at 4:00 there was still no power (24hrs later!) so we packed up and went to my parents house in Fairfax for the night to cool off. We came home this morning and found that we finally have power, THANK GOODNESS! I was very excited to see that we had power this morning and thought, yay, I can go workout today...Nope, can't. I totally forgot about the food in the fridge that now all needs to be dumped and replaced, everything from the milk, to the frozen chicken to the mayonnaise, so that's what I'll be doing tonight, needless to say, not exciting and I'm kind of bummed.
My plan for the rest of the week is to get some good workouts in, and I've even mapped out a good 2 mile walk for Saturday morning so hopefully I can make up during the end of the week for the lack of work I've done in the beginning of this week. This was definitely not how I wanted to come back home and get back in my groove.
