I got my new shoes yesterday and I. LOVE. THEM!!! Can I just say that I LOVE the Potomac River Running Store and especially love that they opened a new one super close to my house (within running distance :-). I went yesterday morning and got sized and fitted for new shoes and I'm in heaven. I haven't officially broken them in yet, but I'm wearing them around the house right now and they're like walking on clouds, although I just told Dave, after what I've been wearing, I could have bought generic Target brand sneaks and those probably would have felt great but ya know...
I went for a trail run this morning with Heather, had no idea what to expect, it was awesome. I didn't wear my new shoes for fear of getting them dirty, I know, vain much :) We went 2.7 miles up hill and down through the hills of Balls Bluff Regional Park and ran along the Potomac River where the Battle of Balls Bluff was fought, it was so neat, and it kicked my ass, I'm not going to lie or sugar coat it. I'm sure I totally held her back and she was so nice about it. I'd really like to make it an every Sunday thing (weather permitting and if Heather is willing to deal with my slack self), because as much as I huffed and puffed, I really did enjoy it. I'm pretty sore now, and wearing my new shoes b/c my whole body hurts probably due to lack of support from my old shoes, but that's why I need the practice. I feel like I've finally gotten that kick or fire or I dont know what but I was driving to the grocery store this afternoon and thought to myself, 'I'd really like to go work out again', that's totally NOT ME, but maybe it is me now, and if so, that's awesome!!! I'd love for that to be the new me! We'll see how long that lasts. Heather mentioned a 5k in November that's local that I think I may run with her, it's only 3'ish miles, and if I can't run a 5k by November, then I have no business signing up for a 1/2 marathon in February!
