Pros and Cons of Vacation

We just got back from a wonderful vacation which is why I've been MIA lately. Before we left I was going kind of silly with my workouts. For some reason I forgot that I was going to be IN a wedding and was terrified that my dress wouldn't fit so I started doing two-a-days. I'd get up in the morning at 5:30 and work out to my Exercise TV (which I LOVE!) then, after work, I'd go running. It was great, I had a routine down, maybe an extreme one, but whatever, then we left for California. I took my running gear with me and had every intention to get at least 1 maybe 2 runs in while we were there, I thought it would be great to run through Laguna beach...and it would have.

I did not run once!

I was gone for 6 days!

So, now I'm home, my 5k is staring me in the face at the end of this week and I'm a little irritated with myself for not running while I was gone, which got me thinking about the title of this entry...Pros and Cons of vacation...

Pro:
You're on vacation...need I really say more???
This was a grown ups only vaca, we left Kaitlyn home with her Grandma
Got to sleep in every morning
Nobody woke me up in the middle of the night looking for their pacifier
I didn't have to change any diapers
I didn't have to cook

Con:
I had no motivation to exercise
Lots of catch up to do upon return home, cutting into running time

Yes, the Pros outweigh the cons, but I need to work on that lack of motivation.

This past week has been great though. I've decided that I definitely like running outside much better than inside on a dreadmill. The last couple of days I've also noticed that I've been able to run a little farther with each attempt before the feeling of my lungs getting ready to burst out of my chest kicks in.

I also purchased another jogging stroller so Kaitlyn and I can go running together when we get home in the evenings. I'm kicking myself, I had an awesome jogging stroller a year ago, but sold it because I never used it and never thought I would ever have an interest in running...look at where we are today. So I got a used one at a yard sale, it works, but the alignment's off so it constantly veers to the left which means I'm constantly lifting up my 35lb child, mid-run, to veer it back to the right, it has a stationary front wheel for safety sake so the front wheel has to be lifted for all turns, it's a bit much. I'll get used to it, and should have some serious arm muscles as well.
